Fresh out of the Danish underground, Zar Paulo is the culmination of the collective ambitions of five young men determined to leave their mark on the musical landscape of the 21st century. The group combines the primal ferocity of 70’s post punk with the pristine focus of 80’s synthpop in a unique fusion of darkness and light.

For the DALI CD, Zar Paulo presents one such fusion with their brand new song, ‘Hills’, written by the group during their stay in a beach cottage in the cold northern region of Denmark. Approaching light speed with razor sharp drums, icy synths and cold guitars, the listener is told a tale of personal loss and social absence.

This was the first time this young band recorded in a big, professional studio. We built the track around a guitar-loop created with a loop pedal. We also did some ambient effects with a memory man and some other pedals.
