DALI IKON 7 was voted as the product of the Year 2008 in the class of best speaker under 2500€ from the Portuguese Audio magazine in the January/February 2009 issue on the streets now.

Against the nowadays fashion of building everything in China, the IKON 7 break the rule, being entirely built on Denmark.

The tested unit present an excellent finishing, with every panel (side, base, top and back) in light walnut.

A word for the terminals panel of the speakers, an example of good quality at this price level. Besides being golden, the Ikon terminals allow double cabling, and for those who don't want or can't use that possibility, they have shunts, gold plaques of good quality that avoid using cablings or other type of connections between them that can be of doubtful quality.

The DALI showed convincing evidence. For starters, I didn't notice any major problem, at least having as a reference point for what they cost. At this price zone, the competition is tight , there are different models defending different sound philosophies and of unquestionable competence, but the IKON 7 fight with arguments capable of scaring any one of them. [...] Besides balance of attributes remarkable at any level, the most relevant is, without a doubt, the quality of the high frequencies.

There is no"grain" in the treble , the instruments sound with joy and an incredible life and their tangibility becomes almost plausible.

The DALI have the agility and the flexibility of an high-competition gymnastic - at the same time they don't show any "fat" you could say they have "everything in it's place" , allowing with that an easy answer, showing great performance at times of major musical complexity, but without compromising the necessary softness at times of great musical intimacy.

A note for the absence of sound colouring of the box, which reveals most effective. As a consequence, it isn't possible to notice any encapsulation of the mid range frequencies. At most box models, this translates on the feeling that the musicians play on a closed environment, and most times on "nasal" voices, a ubiquous result on non-stratospheric speakers, as these. An excellent shot on the target, which puts the competition on great difficulties.

Na maioria dos modelos de caixa este efeito traduz-se na sensação de que os músicos tocam em ambientes fechados, e muitas vezes este sintoma vem associado a nasalação das vozes, um resultado quase ubíquo em colunas de preços não estratosféricos, como é o caso. Um excelente tiro no alvo, que coloca os modelos da concorrência em grandes dificuldades.]
For the end, I left what I consider the least positive aspect of these DALI: the extension of the low frequencies. [...] In what concerns these DALI's, it is preferable this to have a huge frequency extension, capable of "rock the building", but then not being able of keeping the pace, having difficulty in what normally is difficult to control. [...] It' seems to me the Danish made an acceptable compromise.
