Haydn - Norwegian Chamber Orchestra

Classical pianist Leif Ove Andsnes (born in Karmøy, Norway in 1970) has already won numerous awards and his discography and reputation are both impressive. Currently, he lives in Copenhagen, but he also spends much of his time in Bergen, Norway. He is a professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, a Visiting Professor at the Royal Music Conservatory of Copenhagen and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.

The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra was formed in 1977 and the orchestra and their premier violinist Tørje Tønnesen have won international acclaim, not only for their excellent recordings, but also for performances with Leif Ove Andsnes at venues such as London’s Royal Albert Hall.

“Haydn – Rondo all’Ungarese” One can hardly imagine a more “classical” piece of music than a movement from a Haydn piano concerto performed by a pianist and orchestra of the highest international caliber. When these ingredients are present and the recording itself is of reference quality as well, there is really only one thing left to do: Listen and enjoy!

If your stereo system is up to the task and you have placed yourself in the “sweet spot” position in your listening environment, this kind of music forces you to stop fretting about amplifiers, speakers, room acoustics, etc. for the duration of the piece, simply because the music itself draws you in and imparts a pleasant feeling of balance and harmony.
