SAYBIA

Angel is different from almost all of the tracks on this compilation.

Formed in 1993, Danish band Saybia went on to release a number of EPs. After signing for EMI in 2001, the band released their first album, The Second You Sleep, in 2002, which shot into the Danish charts and sold more than 100,000 copies within six months.

Track: Angel (Saybia, Søren Huss)
Album: Eyes on the Highway (2007)
Label: EMI
Appears on: DALI CD Vol. 2

After the release of their first album, The Second You Sleep, which sold more than 100,000 copies in Denmark in no time, it was later launched in Europe with similar success. Saybia gained more momentum and, in 2004, released their second album These Are The Days, followed in 2007 by Eyes on the Highway.

Angel
Angel starts with soft vocals accompanied by guitar and piano. Bass and drums are added in the second verse, followed by a fuller, louder, and much more processed orchestral sound in the first chorus.

The second verse returns to a more modest level of loudness, followed by the second chorus and subsequent bridge/sole: both even louder than the first chorus. The last part of Angel returns almost to its original sound level, ending with a short but nice touch of acoustic drums, piano and guitars.

In this respect, Angel is different from almost all of the tracks on this compilation. It features much more processing and compression, making it one of the loudest tracks on this disc. Fortunately, even throughout the loudest passages, the vocals and other instruments retain detail and remain remarkably clear.
