I wrote this song sometime around 2008, just after meeting my girlfriend and set out to write a modern take on the 70’s piano ballad. I had it lying around for some time, not really knowing what to do with it and ended up recording a heavily synthesized vocoder version with my band I Got You On Tape for our fourth album ‘Church of the Real’ in 2011.

Since then, I’ve been coming back to the original feeling quite a few times when playing my solo sets, which is why it felt like an obvious candidate when DALI asked me to do a recording for them. The track consists of piano, electric bass, strings and a choir and I am very glad to finally have a version that fits my original intention for the song.

This track started out as a simple live recording with piano, vocal and bass, and ended up with a string quartet and a choir ensemble consisting of 16 women and 10 men.
