From assembly to final connection
At DALI’s production facilities, craftsmanship remains a vital part of creating the company’s loudspeakers. Linda Dehn Bendtsen, who works in driver production, plays an important role in ensuring that every woofer meets the high standards associated with the DALI name.
Having joined the company around two years ago, initially as a temporary worker, Linda now works across several stations in the final assembly process. Her current task involves soldering wires onto the terminals of the drivers, a process where even the smallest detail matters.
“The wires need a specific length, a specific soldering point and a specific angle, so they don’t touch the membrane,” she explains. focus on the music rather than the setup.
Coating the membrane by hand
The production flow is divided into specialised cells, including magnet assembly, soft parts and final assembly. While team members often remain within the same area, there is still considerable variation throughout the day, with employees rotating between stations to maintain flow and flexibility.
For Linda, one of the most rewarding tasks is the coating process, where glue is carefully applied to the membrane to create the speaker’s distinctive finish. Although part of the dosing is automated, the final result still relies heavily on manual craftsmanship.
“The dosing is automated, but the rest is craftsmanship,” says Linda. “I was actually quite nervous about coating in the beginning because if it didn’t look right, it had to be rejected.”
That attention to detail is a recurring theme throughout DALI’s production process. Every component must be perfectly centred, assembled and tested to ensure both performance and appearance meet expectations.

“We’re creating high-end loudspeakers, so regardless of what we make, it has to be done properly. You take pride in delivering something that is good and well made.”
Linda also highlights how much precision work goes into every woofer, something she believes is often underestimated.
“There are an incredible number of parts and processes involved. It’s precision work from the very beginning.”
